The city of Venice, built on wood piles, is amazing and unique. And still the city has copies in China and America (Las Vegas), but nothing compares to the city itself.
Must see places and landmarks in Venice are Piazza San Marco, Campo Santa Margherita, Rialto Bridge, the Grand Canal and the Guggenheim museum. To see the beautiful palazzos of the Grand Canal from a different point of view, catch a vaporetti at one of its many stops. Daily boat-trips (vaporetti from San Zaccaria, near San Marco) can be taken to Venice’s beach, the Lido. I
f you’re spending enough time (and days) in Venice, you should consider taking day trips to Burano (known for its lacemaking), Murano (known for its glassmaking) and Torcello.
Take the opportunity to spend a few days in the capital of Italy, booking a Rome hotel. The trip from Venice to Rome takes about 4h30m by train, but the journey is relaxing and it helds some nice scenery. You don’t even need to change, just one train from Venice to Rome.
